Seaview Primary School Nursery Unit
Seaview
Nursery Unit is a well-established and important part of the community. It has
recently been refurbished to accommodate two classes and can boast of a fresh
and exciting new environment where we seek to provide the children with a happy
and meaningful start to their formal education.
We aim to create a rich environment which stimulates the children’s
interests and natural curiosity, whilst freedom of choice allows them to
experiment and play in their own unique way.
The double Nursery unit consists of two large, bright playrooms which are well resourced to cater for the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of the children. There are adjoining carpeted quiet rooms which are used for stories, songs and rhymes.
We have two bright, attractive outdoor play areas, both of which have new safety surfaces. One of these areas consists of a garden border with a covered central area for play on wet days as well as dry. The other outdoor area has been newly constructed and is safely fenced to provide yet more space for our young learners.
The Units are staffed by two qualified teachers who are ably assisted by enthusiastic and committed full-time nursery assistants. Pupil intake is staggered over a few weeks to allow each child time to settle in. The full day is from 8:50am to 1:30pm with snack and dinner times being provided.
Efforts are made to form a close link between home and school and parents are seen as partners in their child’s education.
An open day will take place at the end of November/beginning of December for all parents who are interested in enrolling their child in Seaview Nursery.
Parents and their children who have then received a place in our Nursery for September will be invited to two information days in May/June. They will meet the Nursery staff and discuss the various routines which exist in the Nursery. Many other formal and informal opportunities are provided throughout the year for parents to visit.
